"Make your computer safer"

Welcome to Dean Blog

I hope you find my blog interesting and useful.  I intend to post information regarding PC usage and solutions that I have worked out over the years.

My Background

I am an ASP.NET Developer who has worked mostly with Web Forms (as opposed to ASP.NET MVC).  I find Web Forms to be much closer to the VB desktop application environment. I like the concept of WYSIWYG in designing forms.  However, it is getting harder and harder to design forms using a WYSIWYG approach due to overlapped, sliding panels, etc.  Thus, I can see why MVC has become popular, but it requires a planned, programmatic approach to web development.

My experience goes back to the 1970's and includes COBOL, FORTRAN, Basic Plus (on DEC minicomputers), dBase, Clipper, Foxpro, Visual Foxpro, Microsoft Access, Visual Basic and ASP.NET. I have used both Visual Basic and C# for back-end code on various projects.

I have always opted for simple, straightforward solutions to problems rather than overly abstract, "technically-correct" solutions.  However, the solutions I have found to various problems work correctly and are easy to understand, so hope you can benefit from my experience.

My handle is RealDude, so let's get real.
